I have been an avid fan of the Hammond sound since as long as I can
remember....and probably before that too and have been keyboards since the age of 12!
I started with playing pianos at school which made me want an organ to play at home (now now!!! tsk!). The school piano was a Grand piano and it was huge and luckily when I was 12 it was in the same room as our form room & most of the time was left open for me to play on during school breaks. So whenever I heard a tune and wanted to play it there was always a keyboard on hand ready to learn on.
The piano teacher taught well with sheet music but it was not for me. I wanted to simply get on with 'playing' what I heard and play by ear without lessons. Hence why I was self-taught. 30 years later and I'm still doing the same! and still learning Lol!

So, I guess I started playing piano instead of guitar because 'it was there!' lol.
I was inspired by a lot of rock music from the 70's that contained the Hammond organ sound as.......
a) it was reminiscent of the rock Hammond sound that was rife among rock, pop, blues, rhythm n blues & jazz music in the 60's,
b) it was well balanced amonst vocals & guitar and gave another colour to the music,
c) it could cut through the guitar sound if required!
d) so many different sounds & expressions could be created from it
e) it could be played in so many different styles of music, and
f) was sometimes derived from classical music influences.....check out early Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow & Boston from the mid 70'.
The tracks on the right have been made with my real Hammond
Organ & Leslie Speaker & performed by our function band 'Three Men and
A Bass'.
'Gimme some lovin keep on runnin.mp3' - is a version of 'Gimme
Some Loving' & 'Keep On Running' both originally by The Spencer Davis

'SOS Stop Her On Sight.mp3' - is a version of 'SOS Stop Her
On Sight' originally by
I hope to maintain my Hammond Organ & Leslie Speaker soon so that more tracks wil appear.
